Build a solid technical foundation and unlock the full range of sounds your djembe can produce.

A More Personal Way to Connect With Rhythm

Learning djembe starts with understanding your hands and how they interact with the drum. I teach proper grip, hand positioning, and the core strokes that form the basis of all djembe playing. These fundamentals aren't just technical exercises; they're the gateway to expressing yourself through rhythm and joining a global percussion tradition.

As you develop these skills, you'll start recognizing patterns in music around you and begin to understand how rhythm shapes everything from West African ceremonies to contemporary world music. The confidence that comes from playing clean, resonant tones opens up a whole new way of listening and creating.

Ideal For

• Complete beginners with no percussion experience

• Players wanting to strengthen their technical foundation

• Anyone curious about West African musical traditions

• Musicians looking to add percussion to their creative toolkit

How It Works

1. Assessment and Goal Setting: We start by understanding where you are and what you want to achieve, then build a personalized learning path.

2. Hands-On Technique Training: Each session focuses on specific strokes, hand positions, and muscle memory through guided practice and repetition.

3. Pattern Integration: Once you've mastered the basics, we layer traditional rhythmic patterns so you can hear how technique comes alive in real music.
